Bollington Extravaganza and Farmers Market Sunday 12th September, Adelphi Mill

For the past seven years the Macclesfield Lions Club have organised the Bollington Transport Extravaganza and family fun day raising many £1000's for local charitable causes. This year we are organising a Farmers Market to co-oincide with the event at the Adelphi Mill, Grimshaw Lane. We have several of our producers taking stalls and we will have a wide selection of produce for you to buy with Cheese and drinks tastings. More to follow over the next few weeks. Add the date to your diary for a great day out for all of the family with lots to do and see.

Local Brewery gets a visit from BBC TV's Oz Clarke and Hugh Dennis

Go Shop Local producer, and local brewer Lee Wainwright of the Vale Inn and the Bollington Brewery had a suprise visit from the BBC last week. Oz Clarke and Hugh Dennis took a break from filming for lunch and a sample of the fine ales produced at the Bollington Brewery.  Lee said "They both liked the Long Hop, which is the cricket beer we brew ourselves and is very popular". "They tried all six different beers by the end, They just turned up. We were a bit shocked when we first saw them. Hopefully, we will be in the next series".

Christine's Preserves Awarded 5 Gold Stars at the Great Taste Awards

Go Shop Local producer, Christine from Alderley Edge has just won a total of 5 Gold Stars for 3 of her preserves. Click here to see more from the awards site.  The awards ceremony takes place in September at Fortnum and Mason's in London.  The winning preserves are 2 Gold Star-Chilli Jam, 2 Gold Star-Ginger Marmalade and 1 Gold Star-Lemon Marmalade all of which are available to buy from Go Shop Local.

Christine will be taking a stall at the Go Shop Local Farmers Market in the Macclesfield Lions Club Bollington Extravaganza on the 12th September at the Adelphi Mill, Grimshaw Lane Bollington.

International Cheese Awards - Nantwich 25th July 2010
   
We attended the trade and judging day of the International Cheese Awards.  Congratulations go to one of our producers David Williams of Crewe who won 2 Gold and 3 silver awards, and a Highly Commended. Nantwich Show has been the host to the awards for 91 years with 27 countries competing this year.  After an exhausting cheese tasting marathon we are proud to be able to offer 3 of the award winning cheeses for you to buy online. 
Gold Award - Madras Curry Flavour Cheese, a remarkable and mildy spiced yet fruity flavour reminisent of old style curries.
Silver Award - Chevin Goats Cheese with Chives - tangy and full of flavour a semi soft award winning cheese.
Highly Commended - Cheddar and Pineapple Cheese - a perfect balance of fruit and mature cheddar
