Local Farmers Markets
We feature local farmers markets in the area with articles and pictures from the ones we have attended and up and coming markets to look forwards to.
Barnaby Festival Market 19th - 21st June 2010 - Go-Shop-Local attended
This was a great couple of days and something Macclesfield has been lacking for many years. A true Farmers produce market selling locally grown and created food. The sun shined and the crowds gathered and we pretty much sold out of everything we had. Giles from Wincle Brewery had a stall selling their wonderful Wincle Ales on draft and in bottles. By 2pm on the Saturday he had sold out of beer! As one of our suppliers we had a supply of Wincle Bottled Ales so Giles kindly allowed us to take over his stall on Sunday so we could sell our range of five local brewery ales alongside Wincle draft. All the bottled beers and draught beers were sold out by close of play on Sunday with Fathers Day 3 packs of beer proving very popular.

The common voice of the town seems to be that we all want more of this kind of town centre Farmers Markets. With the older generation remembering the days when a 'proper' food market was a weekly feature in Macclesfield. If we can just get the detached East Cheshire Council to focus more on supporting the community of Macclesfield a once a month town Farmers market could be reborn!
Shown below the Go-Shop-Local stalls where we had a selection of the website produce with cheese and drink tastings

Congratulations to the Barnaby Festival committee for having the get up and go to try to return some community spirit to Macclesfield!
