Local Pubs Supporting the Go-Shop-Local Campaign

Fortunately this is one thing that Macclesfield and the surrounding towns and villages of Cheshire have a great selection of. Sadly though there is an ever increasing number of pubs closing down forever and they need our local support as much as all the other local business's. If you want to see your Local Pub listed here then tell us about it and we'll do our bit to support it.

Kings Head Gurnet - "Great beer, great pies in the tradtion of a REAL PUB and, most of all, a fantastic and warm greeting from a nice Landlord to an unknown Devon Boy!"

"Go there and meet Marcus (thankyou for your greeting). I wish I could wear the T shirt, "Support Marcus". He's working hard so DO IT!"

"What a great surprise to drop into this pub and discover a real gem! The new owner Marcus is a fine man and deserves success. Excellent real ale and I believe that the puds are outstanding so we will certainly be back."

Our Review - I can personally vouch for the pies they are fantastic, each one is freshly made as is all the food, allow about 40mins from ordering to getting your food but it is worth the wait. The beer is also excellent and as for Marcus, you have to meet him! A great Local Pub worthy of everyones support. Congratulations on your 1st Birthday 25th July 2009 well done. Now has a resident customer biting Parrot ask Mr Collis or Mr Metcalfe on ways not to annoy the Parrot.

Sutton Hall - Imagine creating a pub out of a 480 year old manor house, family home of the Earls of Lucan and a former convent.

"You’ll find nooks and crannies everywhere, with a snug, a library and a warren of seven different dining areas, with plenty of terraces and gardens to enjoy the sun. Sutton Hall is a proper pub: the atmosphere is friendly and unpretentious, we have a simple dedication to quality, and we hope it’s going to blow your socks off."

Our Review - It is a trully stunning job that Brunnings and Price have achieved with Sutton Hall. The selection of real ales is second to none and the food is fantastic. There is an excellent choice on the menu and Neil the Manager is a great supporter of sourcing local meat and other seasonal local produce. Highly recommended. The Vale Inn - Bollington - Award winning ales & great home cooked food. Since reopening in March 2005, the Vale Inn has established itself as a real ale and fresh food community pub.

Close to the recreation ground, Middlewood Way and the Macclesfield Canal, there are two beer gardens and a large car park.

Inside offers an open, friendly feeling – a touch of the original 1980s refurbishment remains with the original slate bar and a taste of the new with a redesigned back bar. A real fire completes the homely feel.

The reputation for real ale started with being awarded CAMRA Pub of the Summer 2006 and since then has gone from strength to strength, this year being awarded Macclesfield & East Cheshire Pub of the Year 2007. Our real ales mainly come direct from small local micro brewers, we also try to keep a wide selection so sometimes we look further a field for something different. We are particularly proud to support local ales from Storm Brewing Co. of Macclesfield and Weetwood Ales of Tarporley.
